Edgewood, a small city in Pierce County, Washington, has a population of around 10,000 people. The land was originally inhabited by the Puyallup and Nisqually Native American tribes. In the mid-1800s, European settlers arrived and established homesteads. In 1996, Edgewood became an incorporated community, after existing as an unincorporated area for a long time.

Initially, the town’s economy was based on agriculture, with crops such as hops and berries being produced. The area’s growth was boosted by the establishment of a nearby train station in Sumner in 1883. The introduction of automobiles led to the construction of several roads and highways in the region, making travel to nearby Tacoma and other cities easier.

Nowadays, Edgewood is mostly a residential area, with a mixture of single-family homes and apartments. The city has numerous parks and outdoor recreation areas, including the Milton Edgewood Park and the Pierce County Foothills Trail. Edgewood is home to small businesses and is situated near the larger commercial centers of Tacoma and Federal Way.
